Jim
Cox’s paintings reflect the traditional influences of the Dutch
masters as well as his visual and emotional interpretations brought
on by observation, study and painting from life as much as possible.
Jim’s interest in art began early
and he was enrolled in art classes by age seven. His art instruction
continued throughout his early education. He studied with New Mexico
artist, Ann Mann, Oklahoma artist, L. Dano Keys and continued on to
study architecture and design at Texas Tech University. Jim then apprenticed
with Texas artist, Dalhart Windberg, concentrating on landscape, still
life and Flemish technique. Jim furthered his studies in Baltimore,
Maryland where he was trained in the Atelier style at the Schuler
School and the Mitchell School, also focusing on portraiture and figure
drawing. Jim’s teaching experience spans twenty-five years with
both adults and youth in Texas, Iowa, Maryland, and New Mexico. Jim
is currently represented by Taos Fine Art in Taos, NM, Nussbaumer
Fine Art in Santa Fe, NM, Artspace, LLC in Angel Fire, NM, and Just
